We were so lucky to have Ocean Life Education come for a visit. There were amazing marine creatures for us to touch, a real fresh water turtle, a huge turtle puppet teaching us about the dangers of littering as well as wonderful artefacts such as shark jaws and teeth, which created lots of excitement.
There were also sea stars, rough and spiky, shooting their stomachs out to catch food; sea urchins, turning themselves over using their spikes; sea cucumbers, breathing out of their bottoms, and even a baby bamboo shark with the egg it had originally hatched from.
This was a fantastic way for the children to connect with our ocean life unit of work this term. It helped the children to gain a better understanding of their surrounding environment and how they can help to protect these beautiful sea creatures.
